Beyond accompanying processes, in specific circumstances, Enric Ases also assumes the tasks of director and/or playwright in collective creation productions of theater, dance and circus.
Their participation in each project will depend on the specific needs of the project. It can be from the beginning of the production, or spaced out over time, to work on the materials that the actors have prepared individually.
How?
The main function of the director/playwright in this type of process is to facilitate the conditions so that the actors feel the absolute freedom to investigate, to become deeply involved in the vertigo of creation, in other words, to foster an atmosphere in which "things can happen". Improvisations and brainstorming will gradually define the contents and structure of the show.
When this stage of investigation and research has been completed, it will be necessary to set, rehearse and face the staging, so that everything that has been found during the process ends up taking its definitive form.
I therefore understand this director/playwright as the person responsible for “ensure the solidity and general aesthetic coherence of the piece (even if the desired intention of coherence is incoherence)” in the words of André Lepekci.
